Brought to you by the American Cancer Society® and Alere Wellbeing, the Quit For Life® Program is offered by more U.S. states and employers than any other tobacco cessation program.
The Quit For Life® Program is the nation’s leading tobacco cessation program offered by 27 states and more than 675 employers and health plans throughout the U.S. Brought to you by a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and Alere Wellbeing, the program is built on the organizations’ 35 years of combined experience in tobacco cessation. Available in English and Spanish, the Quit For Life® Program employs an evidence-based combination of physical, psychological, and behavioral strategies to enable participants to take responsibility for and overcome their addiction to tobacco. A critical mix of medication support, phone-based cognitive behavioral coaching, text messaging, web-based learning, and support tools produces an average quit rate of 46 percent*. According to the CDC only 4-7% of smokers who try to quit without assistance are successful.
*Among participants from employer clients who responded to a 6 month survey.
How it Works
The Quit For Life® Program treats every tobacco user as a unique individual and tailors a tobacco cessation plan that is based on the participant’s lifestyle, preferences, and tobacco use history. Participants receive multiple outbound coaching calls and unlimited toll-free access to our Quit Coach® staff for the duration of the program. They are also provided with access to our Web Coach® learning, tracking, and social support community that integrates seamlessly with Quit Coach® calls and our Text2QuitSM interactive text messaging program.

Spanish Version
The Quit For Life® Spanish version features phone-based coaching with native Spanish-speaking Quit Coaches integrated with our Web Coach® online community. The program also includes Spanish promotional materials, a customizable marketing website, and a 60-page printed workbook.
Nearly 15 percent of our service delivery staff has been trained to support Spanish-speaking participants; including registration intake specialists, Quit Coaches, and supervisors. Spanish Quit Coaches must graduate from 12 weeks of immersive training on clinical protocols and tobacco cessation coaching, and 4 weeks of training on cultural and dialect differences, dosing regimens for medication, and symptomology. We recruit staff with a background or education in counseling, addiction studies, community health education, or social work.
